Hi, I’m Benjamin Dessagne. I’m 45, originally from the Basque Country in France – though I’ve never worn a beret.
I’ve been a Parisian since the age of 10, but that doesn’t mean I’m rude (even if I do indulge in our national sport: grumbling).
I’ve been in the business for 22 years – yes, almost a quarter of a century. Over that time, I’ve been lucky enough to work at some of the finest agencies: DDB Paris, Grey Paris, Ogilvy Paris, Buzzman – where I was named Creative of the Year by the Club des Directeurs Artistiques. I later became Creative Director, then Executive Creative Director at BBDO Paris. When Covid took down that historic agency, I went back to my first love: DDBernbach.
Along the way, I managed to collect a few shiny trinkets (awards, that is). I’m lucky to work in English and Spanish, and I’m reasonably fluent in French too.
I’m obsessed with conceptual ideas. I’m convinced that only the idea can save our profession. It’s our real added value – and if we don’t fight for it, clients will just ask themselves why they should pay more instead of going straight to a production company.
I love popular advertising – in every sense of the word. The best campaigns I’ve ever done are the ones that escaped our little industry bubble and were talked about by real people.As we say back home: Allez, bisous.
